OAKBANK & DISTRICT COMMUNITY CLUB INC.

Operating under the direction of a 12 person, member-elected volunteer executive and committee board, the Oakbank & District Community Club Inc. is one of five area community clubs in the R.M of Springfield and one of two ice arena.

As one of the largest year-round recreational facilities in the Rural Municipality of Springfield, the OBCC is proud to have over 500 families using our facility. Our users successfully take part in the Oakbank Soccer Club, Springfield Minor Baseball Association, Springfield Minor Softball Association, Springfield Ringette Association and the Springfield Minor Hockey Association. We are pleased to be able to provide a home for the Andrew Dunn Memorial Walk, Fort Garry Kennel Club Spring & Fall Show, Springfield Chicken Daze, the Springfield Mixed Orthodox League, the Springfield Sabres High School Hockey teams, the Xtreme Junior Hockey Club, the Springfield 98’s Senior team, and the Oakbank Old-timers Hockey Association, along with a variety of other ice, dry-floor and meeting room rentals.

OBCC works collectively with the other area clubs to ensure the programming needs in Springfield are met. OBCC holds a Tri-Party Agreement with the Springfield Minor Hockey Association and the Hazelridge Sports Complex, as well as cooperatively hosting community tournaments. By providing additional facilities and fields for school sport teams and the Sunrise Performing Arts Centre of Excellence, area residents are able to train and play close to home.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways to be a part of the team here at OBCC!  Being a non-profit organization, we could not operate at such a level without the generous support of our volunteers. As everyone has a busy life, you can decide your time commitment level, as even a couple of hours here and there is a huge benefit. Here are some options:

1. Our canteen runs on volunteers and the proceeds help to give the club a new paint job each year, pay for satellite TV, maintain the outdoor rink, fix nets, etc.  A lot of little things that help increase everyone’s experience at OBCC.

2. Or be a part of a team that plans our community and fundraising events. We always have a blast and new ideas and resources are most welcome.

3. There is opportunity to sit on our Executive as well and help manage the business affairs of the club.

Contact our club coordinator today for more information and get plugged in!
